The Henry Chichele Way

Teaching and learning at Henry Chichele Primary School

At Henry Chichele Primary School, our aim is to enable our pupils to be resilient, resourceful, and reflective learners who have the confidence, skills, and attitudes to be successful life-long achievers. We aim to empower our learners; promoting a learning culture so that pupils develop a love of learning and the desire to continue to learn. We aim to give our pupils every opportunity to succeed, nurturing their ambitions and providing many experiences and opportunities.

Teaching and learning at Henry Chichele is under pinned by10 principles; ‘The Henry Chichele Way’.

By adopting a whole school approach to teaching and learning across our school, we aim:

  • to ensure consistency of teaching and learning across the school and enable teachers to teach as effectively as possible
  • to create effective learning environments to support and facilitate pupils learning
  • to give pupils the skills they require to become effective lifelong learners
  • to achieve deep understanding, by helping pupils to connect new knowledge with existing knowledge so that they are fluent and unconsciously competent at applying their knowledge and skills
  • enable pupils to become confident and interested learners, actively engaged in their own learning
  • develop pupils self-respect and respect for the cultures and values of others
  • to provide clarity for pupils, staff and families around what is expected of them and what they can expect of the school
